I get thousands of robo calls each month with high-profile numbers I have. I try to reduce them by calling the legitimate ones back and requesting to be placed on the do not call list by dialing back with a spoofed number using FireRTC. It is fairly easy to tell which ones are legitimate businesses and which ones are not. The ones that are not are data harvesting and selling lists of those who call back. Please help me ascertain whether these are list brokers or whether they are businesses I can call to be placed on their respective do not call list. I’ve been dealing with these specific robodialers for over two years. Note that for all, the numbers simply change out, usually weekly and sometimes daily.
Last, a recent phenomenon I have noticed in the last year or so is that many robodials are spoofed to “customize” not only to the target’s area code, but also the prefix as well. For example, if my number were (212) 700-4839, the spoofed caller ID that is sent to me is (212) 700-WXYZ, with “W”, “X”, “Y”, and “Z” simply being random computer picks.
The following are the worst offenders for repeated, non-stop calling, and no apparent way to reach the principals to stop the calls. Note that I took this sampling from only one week of inbound calls. All of these perpetrators use many, many numbers, some of which I have identified by only one number below:
